Life-Long Blood Donor “Earns” a LifeSource Water System at Central California Blood Center’s 2011 Great American Blood Drive
LifeSource Water Systems help to attract 5450 blood donors in four blood drive campaigns.
Pasadena, CA – March 25, 2011 – Bob Orcutt never thought donating blood would improve his health. On the contrary, Orcutt became a regular donor to the Central California Blood Center (CCBC) to help improve the health of others. Yet, 20 years after his very first donation, Orcutt was the recipient of a LifeSource whole house water filter system at the CCBC’s 2011 Great American Blood Drive.
Orcutt, a physical therapist at the Children’s Hospital of Central California in Fresno, has donated plasma to the CCBC nearly every month since he moved to Fresno in 1991. In 1995, Orcutt’s son Scott contracted leukemia, leading Bob to encourage others to donate blood even more. Scott is now a healthy 19-year-old currently running a marathon and fundraising for the Leukemia Society.
“I have always been a donor and became more passionate about it after seeing life and color return to my son years ago during his leukemia treatment,” said Orcutt. “We are truly grateful for this gift from LifeSource and so grateful for the Central California Blood Center in the San Joaquin Valley.”
An innovator in providing healthy, environmentally-friendly water softener alternatives to residents and businesses, LifeSource Water Systems has donated one of their whole house water filtration systems to be raffled off at the CCBC’s Great American Blood Drive every year for the past four years.
“This drive annually comes at a very important time when our inventory is low after the holidays and a big blood drive is desperately needed,” said Chris Sorensen, Director of Community Relations and Development at the Central California Blood Center. “To be able to offer such a generous raffle item is a big attention grabber. Over the four years LifeSource Water Systems has donated to our Great American Blood Drives we have seen more than 5,450 generous donors.”
After having the LifeSource water system for just two weeks, the Orcutt family of four is “really happy.” “My 16-year-old daughter says the water tastes ‘crisp,’ and my wife Ann says her hair feels better and she uses less soap,” said Bob. “Our neighborhood tap water smelled and tasted strong of chlorine. No more. We are spoiled now on any other water. In past years we have used bottled water, under-sink and countertop water filters, thankfully no more.”
Coincidentally, after installing his LifeSource water filter system, Bob found out that his sister Terri and her husband Alex bought a LifeSource system for their Ventura, CA home in 2004.
